Ancient beech tree

A couple of years ago I was in a small community in Södermanland in Sweden, called Nävekvarn.
On a walk with dogs and camera, just outside the community, I found this amazing tree. 
A beech tree with initials, hearts and names engraved in the ancient tree trunk.
With a downfall just minutes away, I was in a bit of a hurry! 
Twelve pictures were exposed at a fast speed with the same exposure.
Besides, I only had one lens with me, and that in no way was enough to cover the whole old tree. 
So it did not become the crop I wanted then, 
but when I scan the pictures today the details appear more clearly than they probably would if I had time to change lenses.
This also leaves a lot to the imagination, which I appreciate, and will keep in mind for upcoming photo tours.

These are such beautiful photos. Trees – we take them so for granted at times – but these fill one with awe. If you ever get to the US, go to Washington State and visit the Hoh Rain Forest – centuries old cedars, moss, rocks – so awesome. You’ve made my morning with these photos!
