Shimmering Grains

This film has been around for a year now, but for me it´s a new and very pleasant acquaintance. A high contrast film for those gloomy days… And at least for me there is more areas within photography than street photography that is limiting me with dull light. As I like the black and white very much, then I just need a gloomy day with no shadows, just plain boring dull light, whatever I want to photograph, to loose my motivation and lust for creativity. So it is very thrilling to have a high contrast black and white film with good ISO and very appealing look.

These two old drying barns is photographed in almost full sunshine, and I didn’t almost tweak them at all in Lightroom. I scan my images as if they were RAWfiles, with all information left in the histogram, as TIFF files, and then I import them into Lightroom and crop them back to the right ratio, dust picking and some level adjustments. That´s it. But with this film it was much easier with the levels, almost nothing at all to do to get the image back to “as photographed”.

My two little Sheltie girls is photographed in very dull and boring light, and I hadn´t much hope for the images, but I must say that I´m overwhelmed with the result! Just LOVE it!!

First little lady is Alice 8 years old

Also this fishermans shed is photographed in gloomy light, a very overcast day, and I think, as with my dogs, the result is nothing less than brilliant.
