A boat trip to beautiful Åland, in the finnish archipelago right in between Sweden and Finland
Today it will be a few pictures I took when I was over to Åland a day in the summer.
(I have a whole lot of films to scan and go through at the moment, so pictures from my vacation week on the Swedish west coast will have to wait a little while.)
At Eckerö I found this wonderful lady who sat and painted watercolors, I asked her if it was okay to photograph her, and I took two pictures. Unaccustomed as I am to photograph people, the images were not quite as I hoped. I had wanted to take a few close-ups, both of her and also of her painting, but I did not want to disturb her more than this. I have emailed the pictures to her, but have not received a reply, so I hope everything is okay with her.
If you see this post, I hope you think it’s okay! Please, get in touch or leave a comment here!
In Åland, especially here at Käringsund, Eckerö where I was, many of the rocks are of red granite, incredibly beautiful! The gravel road is also from the beautiful red granite, so what may look like magenta cast in the pictures are actually not that, because it looks like this. It’s a wonderful environment to photograph in!
And as usual, I can trust this wonderful film, Fuji Astia, the discounted film I always nag about, which I love so much. Moderate saturated colors in an unobtrusive contrast.
Oh how I wish Fuji changes on this film!
Enjoy! 🙂
Nice set of photos and a wonderful place
yeah, this must had to be a great trip!
Thank you! Yes it is a wonderful soothing place, very nice to photograph.
Loved this series and the personal touches… very interesting, and with film? Wow! Thanks for sharing
Thank you very much for visiting, and for your kind words! 🙂
I find the last one interesting by the way you cropped the hut down the middle.
Thank you! 🙂
Beautiful, each and every one.
Thank you Carol, your kind words are most appreciated!
Beautiful, atmospheric, set of images. I love the pink willow herb in the first image and the way it complements the pinkish-brown tones in the wooden building.
Thank you very much for your visit and kind words, most appreciated!
Wow, you’re not kidding about the subtlety of the Astia! Especially in the last three, the hues are so gentle and inviting. Wonderful!
Do you find the natural light on the islands to be very different from the mainland?
Hi, yes, istn’t Astia just gorgeous?
I live a bit from the coast, about 35 km, and where I live it is typical inland. But because it is so near, and I LOVE the coast, I most often go there. So I have seen it more as a difference between coastal and inland areas, but on the islands, the difference is even more apparent. I find it hard to explain the difference in English, but the difference is there. Obvious and intreresting.
Thank you very much for your kind words, and for making me think about things I otherwise take for granted! 😀
Have a great day!
lovely photos Marie! I like it on E-6…the Astia
Thank you Grazie! Yes, it is a fantastic film, prcessed in E6. I don’t like the reddish color it gets crossed in C41. This is much nicer.
These shots are exquisite … well above WordPress standard :). Bravo!!!!
Thank you Paula, your kind words makes me proud and happy!
