Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day 2013

Last Sunday the 28th of April we celebrated the Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day.

It was very very fun!

I had three cameras with me, my Zero 2000, Holga 120WPC and my newest love, the Harman Titan 4×5, which I just LOVE!! It has all I’ve dreamed of with pinhole photography.

Here is my favourites from the day, one from each camera, but on the Pinhole Day site one can only upload one single image, so after having checked out the “competition”, I chose the one from my Holga.

Imagemaking outside the (camera)box

Yes, I’m cheating a bit now…. My blog is about film photography, and this post has nothing at all to do with film or for that matter, not camera either.

But I got so inspired when I found out about this kind of image making on Flickr a while ago, and just had to try it myself.

I’m talking about Lumen prints. You can find excellent images and more info at Flickr, and my contacts Diane and John, they are both very generous with information.

But to explain shortly: I put my small daffodils on a photographic paper from my darkroom, put it all in a contact sheet frame and out into the sun for several hours. Then I scanned the paper, then I fixed it all for a minute or so, rinsed it carefully to get rid of ALL fixer. Then I toned the image in a bath with diluted goldtoner. It dried overnight, and then I scanned it again.

I’m not sure about the gold toner, or the dilution of it, but I guess it is all about trial and error…. 😉

I have done this a couple of times now, but this is the first result I like myself. And I can’t wait until the snow is gone, and it is starting to grow out in the nature again…..

Having had a creative dip….

Hello everyone!
Now I’m (hopefully) on the way out of this creative dip I have been in for a month.
Much depends on the incredibly long, dark and cold winter we have had here in Sweden, it has really taken its toll.

But also because I have got too many “must haves” for me to really enjoy ….. Strange that I never learn …. Gah.. …

So, out with all the “must haves” and back in with the freedom, joy and light again! 🙂
So for those of you who like the weekly charts of various kinds can I just say, sorry, I can not do it anymore.
From now on it will be just a little of everything that I want to do right now!

Today I have some crazy dog pictures of my dogs playing in the snow, which I took when nothing else was to photograph, just to start taking photographs again.

The focus is set by using hyperfocal distance, my dogs are far to fast for any other method, so nothing else is possible if I want them in action.

The black and white films are exposed for 3200 and ISO 6400, and developed the so-called “stand-development” in Rodinal for two hours. I’m not thrilled with the midtones, but there is certainly room to try more, and in different circumstances. And it was fun to try something I’ve never done before.
