Softly whispering with Fuji Astia RAP 100F
Isn’t it kinda sad, that when I found “The Film of My Life”, it is discontinued…..
This time of year, I just love to mount my macrostuff on my cameras and look for the tiny things that we so often doesn’t take the time to see in nature.
And for that purpose I find this film just exquisite.
It is so creamy, with fine beautiful grains and smooth colours, just like nature itself.
Though the film contrast is low, it does not give the impression of a low-contrast image, just creamy smoothness of a soft whisper…..
I have vacuumed the market after this film, I bought Adoramas last stock (the customs were not cheap …..), bought the last from Lomography.
I’ve even been looking in Japan.
So is there anyone out there who know of any stock of this wonderful film, please, please please let me know!
PLEASE Fuji, let this beautiful wonderful film come back to life again!
sooo very beautiful…… sigh..
xo
So sorry they discontinued that great film, the phptos are wonderful!

Lovely pix. Lovely site. I’ve got three 35mm Astias and three 120 Astias in the fridge – saving them for the right project(s). Following you now. Thanks for the ‘like’ on my ‘Sky picture haiku’ post. I’ve recently got hooked on the haiku and some of my photos just seem to plead for one; I’ve now got another two ‘picture/haiku’ in my drafts. I like the discipline involved in both film photography and haiku – cost, if nothing else in the former, only 17 syllables to play with in the latter. Next stage – write the haiku then look for the picture. Even with the digital I tend to come back with no more than 10 shots, except for ‘work’ where I do use the ‘belt and braces’ approach of multiple, bracketed exposures (I’m not a professional photographer but do my own shots for the publications I produce for a charity – no budget).
these are sooo beautiful, I have no idea about the discontinued film sorry.
simply beautiful. All the best on your quest for the film!!!!
sad indeed 🙂 i never even get a chance to try it..
there are varieties of Fuji film here in japan but never seen ASTIA RAP?
any chance they might re-brand it? like the neopan/presto b/w film?
Thank you.
I have no idea, but rebranding would for sure be nice!
On the paper box it just says Fuji Astia 100F, but on the filmstrip it says Fuji RAP. I made a link in the post to Lomography Store, you can see it there.
So Neopan is a rebrand, nice, I did not know that, it is a great film!
Have a nice day my friend, and thanks for stopping by!

Most Pro-films have code names which are written on side of films or perforation line for 35mm film.
Astia – RAP
Velvia – RVP
Provia – RDP, RXP
Tmax – TMX, TXY, TMZ (acording to speed)
etc.
Best place would be eBay, but prices may be high because of discontinued film. That always increases price, if you can get it developed.

Also check out Sensia 100. It’s budget slide film, but also with natural colors. Maybe lil more grainy. But also discontinued so will be more expensive than some time ago. + as consumer film most will be in 35mm format.
Also try Believeinfilm.com Rare film finder – http://believeinfilm.com/shop although he hasn’t added Astia yet.
