Weekly Photo Challenge – SILHOUETTE
No, this is not a real bird, but a quite nice decoration of a small jetty that I found when I visited a friend recently.
I thought it was suitable for this week’s theme.
Enjoy!

Love this, great setting and it looks like an owl, and I’m very fond of those, in fact have a collection of small ones. My daughter also frequently sends me cards which feature them, and I have a series of those too! Not sure what I shall do, but will try and find something this weekend.
Thank you Sue!
They really are magnificent birds, and it is very powerful to see a live one, not often that happens..
This one does better as silhouette than in daylight though… 😉
The water is enchanting and I love the focus on the owl here. Mission accomplished!
Thank you very much! 🙂
Very majestic feel. The background tones are great! And I love the highlights on the owl.
(thought I posted this a while ago but I guess it didn’t take)
Thank you very much! Yes, she looks great as a silhouette, before that I couldn’t figure out why I took the picture, but it turned out better this way… 😉
You really do know what you’re doing when it comes to exposure. And as always, you get great results! I love the rim light on the bird. That’s really very well done!
Thank you very much!
Well, I do know and use the Zone System, yes, but in this case, I have to be honest here….. In this case I exposed “normal” and the image was really ugly and I couldn’t figure out why I took it in the first place, but when this challenge came up, I thought it was the right image to darken down in Lightroom. And it became much better, I think…
Have a great day!

It has a very imposing feel about this image with the majestic owl carving in silhouette
The owl was placed on a rather high level, so I enhanced that feeling by lowering my camera position even more, and the silhouetting was really good for the looks of the owl, a rather ugly made piece of wood… 😉
Thank you for your always so kind comments James!
As always it is my pleasure…
This one is a real hoot! I like the way you’ve just left enough in the shadow to show the eye.
Thank you very much! 🙂
