Filmswap Stockholm – Bangkok

A couple of months ago, my dear friend from Lomography, Pui from Bangkok, asked me if I wanted to do a filmswap with him. And of course I wanted that! He is a very talanted photographer, and he is a true master of doubles, so I was happy do to that!

We agreed to use Kodak EBX Elitechrome 100 ISO (set to 200, though double exposed), and to crossprocess it in C41. So I photographed my film here in Stockholm, and Pui photographed his film in Bangkok, then we switched, I sent my film to him, he reloaded it and photographed the second layer in Bangkok, and vice versa with the other film.

This, to do a film swap is very thrilling, you’ll have no idea what to expect! It all comes as a surprise when the film is developed. It can be difficult to scan and to cut the filmstrips though the frames most often is overlapped, but that just makes the whole thing even more fascinating.

And we both are proud of the outcome of these two films.

So here comes, with gratitude to Pui, for this great opportunity, some of our common favorite images from the two rolls of film.

I think for both photographers the outcome is a bit like expecting a baby :-)) (hope you don’t mind the comparison). You know a photograph will come out of it, but you don’t know how it will look like in the end. It’s an adventure!
My favorites? nr 2 & 9 (look like scenes from a sf movie); nr 4 (deliciously romantic); nr 8 (the color combo is just fabulous!)

  Doing a filmswap is one of the funniest things photographically I’ve ever done! So inpredictable and creative, some photos is real crap and some is wonderful beyond imagination……
